This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to begin your career in the construction industry and transition into an apprenticeship.
52893WA Certificate II Building and Construction (Pathway – Trades) offers two pathways – carpentry and joinery, or bricklaying / blocklaying. You will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills needed to get started in your trade of choice and then choose your preferred specialisation.
This course is hands-on, covering the key skills needed by employers in the construction industry. By week four, participants can select their career pathway.
Skill Hire’s Group Training Organisation (GTO) is uniquely placed to help you find a host employer for real life work placement experience.

Duration and commitment
The course is delivered in our customised training facilities over 13 weeks, with participants required to attend training four days per week. Learning consists of 9 weeks hands on training provided onsite at our purpose-built training facilities delivered by highly experienced and qualified trainers.
Participants will finish the program with a four-week work placement experience and are encouraged to get the most out of this experience as it can lead to an opportunity for employment. Participants will be required to follow site inductions as required by the host employer for their placement and will need to make their own way to and from their work placement.
Class Information
- Duration: 13 weeks (9 weeks face-to-face training + 150 hours (4-5 weeks) work placement
Forrestfield Training Location – Unit 3/271 Berkshire rd., Forrestfield
- Transport: Students are responsible for their own transport to our Forrestfield training facility. Situated 1.7km from High Wycombe Train station
- Training days: Mondays to Thursdays
- Training start time: 7.30am to 2:30pm
- Term dates
- Term 1 2024: 31 Jan – 16 May
- Term 2 2024: 29 April – 2 August
- Term 3 2024: 15 July – 31 October
- Term 4 2024: 7 October – 19 January 2025
Joondalup Training Location – 8 Elcar Lane, Joondalup
- Transport: Students are responsible for their own transport to our Joondalup training facility. Situated 545m from Joondalup train station
- Training days: Monday – Thursday
- Training start time: 7:30am to 2:30pm
- Term dates:
- Term 1: 31 Jan – 10 May
- Term 2: 30 April – 26 July
- Term 3: 16 July – 18 October
- Term 4: 7 October – 19 Jan 2025
Bunbury Training Location – 24 Clifford St, Davenport
- Transport: Students are responsible for their own transport to our Bunbury training facility.
