Skill Hire welcomes the October announcement from the Department of Education, Skills and Employment that the Employability Skills Training program (EST) will be expanded to eligible participants aged 25 and over to support their job search efforts.
Previously only accessible by the under 25 cohort, the expansion of the successful EST program to participants aged over 25 in the Online Employment Services (OES) program will make available intensive coaching, mentoring, and training to a much larger group of job seekers, further stimulating local labour markets.
Skill Hire Chief Executive Officer Shawn Murphy said the announcement will be met enthusiastically by industry looking to recruit the talent they need to grow in an increasingly competitive labour market.
“This program has proven to be highly effective at helping young people find permanent work and for employers – the recent announcement will increase the local area job ready talent pool employers can access”.
“We are keen to work even more closely with local employers to customise training through EST to help businesses benefit from the larger cohort moving through this program and connecting them with the talent they need,” Mr Murphy said.
EST provides participants training, coaching, and mentoring in an intensive 6 weeks of training to help them connect with employers and find meaningful work in their local community.
Over 25 OES program participants can self-refer through use of the job seeker platform to EST training to help then connect with local employment opportunities.
