The year of 2017 saw over 30 job seekers successfully gain & hold employment within Ernabella Community. All job seeker employees have thrived within their individual duties, contributing to Ernabella by working. A resounding factor throughout all employees is growth, engagement & willing participation. Employee duties have ranged from activity supervisors, support workers, Anangu education officers, store assistants, administration, personal care assistants to local management and night patrol.
We pride ourselves on closely supporting our job seekers, providing employment opportunities and developing skills and potential, by putting them through training and courses to obtain certificates or qualifications (first aid, RAN training or driver’s licence). We offer direction, guidance and understanding and we emphasise the importance of developing consistency and a positive attitude towards work and routine. We have found that promoting and encouragement of education and hard work backed with mentoring and support has proven to be key in sustaining job seeker employment and the evolving of work ethic.
We conduct post placement support on a weekly basis to ensure employees are supported in their role and to offer continuous assistance. Through post placement support we have found job seekers to be happy and proud of their current achievements in their role.
Our goal in the future is to maintain our service support and encouragement. We also want to increase Anangu employment rates and job sustainability by a continued focus around the importance of working and engaging actively within the community.
