Course Overview

Master the trade of carpentry. This apprenticeship teaches you how to use carpentry tools and equipment to build residential and commercial structures. You will learn how to read and interpret
plans, follow worksite procedures and work safely on site. Certificate III in Carpentry is delivered through an apprenticeship that combines course training with on-the-job learning.

Duration and commitment

A carpentry apprenticeship takes 3 to 4 years to complete.

Study mode

Training occurs within 2 week blocks, 2-3 times per year. Depending on the units in each block. Training is from 7:30am to 3pm at our facilities in Forrestfield. Trainers and/or Field Officers will visit you on-site throughout your apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

You must be working with an employer that supports an apprenticeship. You’ll need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). To set up your USI, visit www.usi.gov.au.

Learner resources

You will need to bring steel toe capped boots, Hi-Vis clothing and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). All other learning resources will be supplied by Skill Hire during the program.

Study pathways

You will be a qualified carpenter after the successful completion of your apprenticeship. You can choose to upskill by participating in further training during your career.
