Apprentices, trainees, and hosts will switch out the steel caps for the bright lights of Optus Stadium on Thursday, 2nd February 2023, where the Skill Hire Annual Apprentice of the Year Awards will be held.
Showcasing excellence across a variety of trades and industries, the awards recognise the outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees, and hosts, as well as celebrate the graduation of new skilled apprentices and trainees.
Managing Director, Shawn Murphy said there had been a surge in this years’ applications across the 11 categories which demonstrates the quality and commitment of up-and-coming talent across a broad range of occupations and industries.
“This event is a great way to acknowledge the journey of a young person getting their trade or finishing their traineeship, but also highlight the different ways industry comes together to train, mentor, support and grow talent for the future.”
“Apprenticeships are a vital lever for continued economic growth, unlocking the skills and expertise necessary for a strong future. Trades training shores up our skills pipeline, gets people into work, drives down unemployment and gives businesses the confidence to keep on hiring,” he said.
“This year’s nominees showcase the diversity of young people that are realising a trade can provide an effective pathway to a rewarding career.”
Award categories cover first to fourth year apprentices, overall apprentice of the year, and the Tony Harvey award. Additional awards include trainee of the year, pre-apprentice of the year, regional apprentice of the year, apprentice safety award, host employer safety award and host employer of the year.
Winners will be announced on the evening of Thursday, 2nd February 2022.
